What would you do if you had more money?
Or more time?
What if you weren’t tied down by red tape?
What if your community was fully behind you?
Let’s find out, together.
Churches in Birmingham are coming together, to give meaning to the message of hope that Jesus came to bring. Every community needs something. Maybe it’s a practical need such as cleaning, teaching, or healing. Maybe it's a spiritual need in a community broken by crime, poverty and anger. Whatever the need, the Christians of Birmingham are coming together to try and help.
This is just the beginning. We are aiming to add news, events, and so much more! So keep coming back and get involved.
These days (and perhaps it’s always been the case), teenage life can be a bit of a rollercoaster ride. As well as dealing with adolescence and developing a sense of identity, they face all kinds of dangers and pressures from peers. Teen soap Hollyoaks regularly deals with teen issues – in fact, it’s currently running a […]
On a Thursday evening a dozen people from the Moseley/ Kings Heath Community Group turned up at the Ladywood home of a lady who had requested help from Karis with tidying her garden and painting the walls and woodwork of her large hallway, stairs and landing.
We soon had a team armed with brushes, rollers and […]
Over the course of 6 hours on Cup Final Saturday ten people turned up to work on the garden of a neighbour of a Community Group member. The front garden was a weed covered patch bordered by an overgrown privet hedge. The huge back garden was an overgrown grass area full of brambles, junk […]

A series of digital prints by the artist Sheona Beaumont exploring expressions of Christian hope with the imagery of birds: www.shospace.co.uk
Sheona Beaumont is an artist from Bristol who has exhibited regularly in faith-based settings for 10 years. This exhibition has been produced in response to 2008’s church-initiated year of hope and aims to explore expressions of Christian hope through the imagery of birds.
The series of digital prints that Sheona has produced are a rich, colourful celebration of the positive nature of hope and its ability to transform lives and communities for the better. She says: ‘There is so much beautiful and exciting imagery in the Bible that is more than just words on a page. I wanted to create pieces that are both interesting to look at but also communicative of a deeply joyful hope that is real today.’
Saint Martin’s Arts is a registered charity, with a vision ‘to enrich human experience and spirituality through the arts’. Throughout the year they host regular exhibitions and concerts, supporting artists and encouraging access to the arts for visitors and local residents. This exhibition has also been supported by The Christian Arts Trust.

Christ Church Summerfield is organising a week of outreach along the Dudley Road from 1st to 5th July. We are hosting an “On the Move” barbeque in Summerfield Park. All the other churches in the area are involved in some way. We see this as our opportunity to bless the community. We have been praying together for the last seven years and this outreach arises out of our concern to “get out there”. We are thrilled with the whole Hope concept.
The local police sergeant informed me recently that the crime statistics for our area have fallen dramatically since prayer began; in such a concerted way that the Home Office want to know what it is happening and they’ve invited me onto a group to explain how we see policing policy in this area. I’ve just invited the official to our prayer breakfast so that he can tell us about his work and receive prayer backing from us.

Saturday 28th June, 11.30am-6.15pm, Amington Rec.
There should be something for everyone at this year’s Amington Fete this Saturday 28th June at Amington Recreation Ground. The Fete committee consisting of local people and police and community representatives, hope for a really good day – and there’s plenty to fill the programme. The theme this year is The Wild West, and children have been approached through the primary schools to join the parade in themed Fancy Dress, leaving the Kerria Centre at 11.30 a.m. The police Community Support Officers have done a splendid job of organizing the parade and arranging for us to connect the upper part of Amington community with the Recreation Ground for this event.”
Once at the Rec., the Fete will be opened by Tamworth Mayor, Councillor Brian Beale, at 12.30 p.m. Judging of the Fancy Dress will follow with prizes for boy and girl and best school. Then the party really gets going with Dance Groups, country crooner, John Pinner, Amington Band and a Wild West re-enactment by the Authentic Western Group. There will be displays by Birds Orchard Riding School, including ‘Calamity Jane’ and rides for children. There will be some great clowning around with world renowned clown, Revd. Roly Bain. Later on there will be a display by the Shotokan Karate Club and Belly Dancing by ‘Beliamo’. “There are over 30 stalls, food provided by Ginny’s Jackets and Amington Scouts and the MC will be popular Tamworth DJ, Barry John. There will also be face-painting, a Bouncy Castle and static displays of vintage and classic cars, the Tamworth Fire Engine and the Police Safety Team,” said Revd. Harris.
One of the committee members, Judith Ackers, added “Amington is a great place to live. It has been 10 years since the last carnival and we’re excited about seeing Amington families gathering to have fun and enjoy quality time together.” Entrance to the event is free and prize programmes will be available for 50p. The event will close around 6.15 p.m.
“All the money raised will be put to use for the community,” said the Revd. Harris. “The committee decided that more facilities should be made available for young people and we will also help maintain Amington church following recent lead thefts and repairs to the organ. We are grateful to the community for its support.”
In the event of a very wet day, the Arena activities will take place in Amington Band Room and stall-holders are asked to set up stalls in the Cornerstone Hall (Old School site) where there will also be refreshments.
